Oriented Strand Board, or OSB, is a type of engineered wood product created using principles similar to traditional particleboard. Its production involves shredding wood into strands, which are then mixed with adhesives and subjected to high temperature and pressure to form durable, cohesive panels.
What sets OSB apart from standard particleboard is the intentional alignment of the wood strands. This “oriented” structure enhances both the strength and surface flatness of the board, making it more robust and reliable for various applications. Its organized strand pattern offers better structural integrity, setting it apart from more random configurations found in conventional particleboards.
